LE BAR AMÉRICAIN – Best for Wine

As you would expect from the name, this bar is inspired by American culture. The architecture is inspired by the 1920s and is every bit as appealing as one would hope. It has soft lighting and has a great range of vintage wines. You can enjoy an overlook of the ocean through the large windows that peer out along the coastal line.

It is just one of a number of bars in Monaco that are owned and operated by the iconic Hotel Du Paris. It is chic, stylish, and depicts old-school glamour at its finest.

When you visit, expect live performances from some of the very talented local bands, along with modern music that adds to the overall atmosphere and appeal.  The service here is exemplary, and they have a seasonally changing menu. They serve signature cocktails along with mouth-watering menu options throughout the evening.

BUDDHA BAR – Best for Laid-Back Luxury 

Also commonly referred to as Bar Buddha, this has to be one of the most renowned bars of Monaco. It is located inside of an old concert hall from the 20th century which makes the overall appearance of this place something quite special. Sky-high ceilings and a stupendously well-designed interior with a strong Asian theme make the Buddha Bar as much a treat for the eyes as it is for the entertainment value.

There are various sections of the bar which each offer something a little bit different, and it has a very prestigious yet laid-back feel. Amber lighting throughout gives the overall zen-like atmosphere, and it also offers exceptional views out across the ocean.

If you are looking to sample out a luxury venue without paying a hefty price, then between 1800-2000 from Tuesday-Saturday, you can order one of their signature cocktails at a very reasonable price.

Aside from the main lounge, they have a large terrace and serve up amazing food in their restaurant including caviar, Kobe Steaks, and Lobster.

They are open from Tuesday-Sunday between the hours of 1800-0200.

LA NOTE BLEUE – Best for Jazz and Reasonable Prices

Another example of a relaxed bar. La Note Bleue also operates as a Jazz Lounge and Restaurant. This makes it a great place to go to relax with loved ones or friends while enjoying delicious meals. The outdoor terrace stretches right across the Monaco waterfront, which gives you a view out across the ocean. Given that the bar is located centrally, you can get fairly reasonable prices and high-quality service. Everyone gets that little bit of luxury that you come to expect in the country of Monaco.

They have regular concerts, live music on a weekly basis and it is home to some of the finest Jazz artists that Monaco has to offer. Both locals and tourists will flock here for an evening due to the overall ambiance and huge variety of drinks and food that are on offer.

It is highly advisable to try out some of their tapas to accompany your drinks.

The jazz lounge offers live music from Wednesday-Saturday between 2100-0000 each week. They don’t just play Jazz; you can expect soul, funk, and little Brazilian music too.

SAPHIR 24 – Best for Fine Wines and Outstanding Views

Saphir 24 is part of the illustrious Fairmont Hotel in Monte Carlo. By day, you have the clearest of views out across the expansive waters through large gaping windows; and by night, the bar is lit up with an electric blue hue that adds a touch of luxury to the surroundings and an amazing vista across the bay.

LE TIP TOP – Best for Starting or Ending Your Night

Le Tip Top is a must-see for anyone spending time in this superb city. It is located next door to the renowned Casino Du Monaco. This location makes it an easy place to visit on any night out due to its central location. It is so much more than just a bar! They are offering award-winning food that is accompanied by some of the most creative and high-end drinks choices. Despite this high-quality, Le Tip Top offers amazing value, which isn’t something you would normally associate with bars of this caliber.

The overall atmosphere is laid back, and you can’t help but feel relaxed after spending just a little time here. There are plenty of local and international spirits and wines on offer, along with a decent range of Belgian beers too. If you want to get something to eat, the theme of the food is Mediterranean/Italian. In the past, it has been privy to awards for its high-standards and creative twists to some of the classic dishes.

Casinos in Monaco

MONTE-CARLO BAY CASINO

This casino is not as formal as some of the others in Monaco. However, it offers a huge selection of games and approximately 160 different slot machines. For those want the pleasure of playing outside, they also have a terrace with slots outside.

There is no required dress code and entry is free and easily accessed by anyone who is over the age of 18. As with all establishments of this nature, you must remember to bring your ID.

The Monte Carlo Bay Casino is located within its own Hotel and Resort. There is easy access to an abundance of drinks and delightful food throughout the evening.

It is open daily from 1400 in the afternoon through to 2am. Access is granted via the lobby of the hotel.

CASINO DE MONTE CARLO

The Casino De Monte Carlo offers superb gaming, including English Roulette, European Roulette, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Trente et Quarante and more. If you need a break from those, the slot machines are available in abundance across two expansive spaces, the Salle Des Amerques, and the Salle Renaissance. In the summer months, you can also enjoy some of the games outdoors. The spectacular Salle Blanche and Terrasse, both offer extensive views across the Riviera you can enjoy!

There are also two outstanding restaurants in the Casino De Monte Carlo. This gives you the opportunity to sample some of the finest cuisines with locally sourced products and an extensive drinks menu with something to suit all tastes and impressive signature cocktails that look almost too good to drink.

This is considered to be a slightly more modern Casino compared to some of the others in Monaco. They have a huge selection of slots, blackjack, Texas hold’em, roulette, craps, video poker, and many more games.

The dress code is strictly smart. If you are wearing anything that resembles religion or military wear, you will likely be turned away politely at the door.

On-site there is a famous restaurant and brasserie, serving a huge range of delicious food with an extensive drinks menu, boasting an impressive wine list. There are also two outside terraces offering an amazing experience and an exceptionally laid-back, yet luxurious ambiance.

The bar and restaurant are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The casino is open daily from 1400-0400.

SUN CASINO

There are no particular dress code requirements and entry is free. If you are over 18 years old, you should have no problem getting in. Remember to take some form of photographic identification in order to be granted access.

At the Sun Casino, you can typically expect a cosmopolitan clientele, and it is a lively yet informal place. Their motto is centered around their desire to entertain their guests. This is further proved by the huge range of TV screens that broadcast most of the popular sporting events, and of course, Formula 1.

In terms of the gaming selection, they have everything you would expect, and more. Roulette, Black Jack, Craps, Poker, Slots, Punto Banco, Texas Hold’em, and lots of others are available.

The Sun Lounge is open every day and offers a snacking menu for 14 hours. They also have a huge selection of local and international wines and spirits along with a huge cocktail menu. They host live music every weekend from 2200-0230, this includes DJs and live acts.

If you are looking for a place to spend some time, that is not super fancy but still modern and with a great atmosphere, this is the casino for you!

What Events are happening in Monaco?


Aside from the Monaco Grand Prix that takes place towards the end of May, there is a range of major events happening throughout the year. This can impact the overall business of the city and of course, the prices and availability of the accommodation. If you want to experience Monaco at its best, and fullest, you have to visit during one of these events!

The Monaco Yacht Show

The Yacht show takes place every year during late September. Port Hercule is host to this incredible display of force that is dedicated to high-end, luxury yachting. Some of the technology on display is simply phenomenal. For those who are interested, there are many of the worlds yachting superstars in attendance.

While only a four-day event, the celebrations start early and continue for the entire week of the show. Whether you are a fan of the industry or not, when they take to ocean en-masse for a unique exhibition, this is a sight worth seeing. It is not something too many people will get to experience in their lifetime. Be sure not to miss it!

The Jazz Festival

Every year in November, Monaco celebrates its deep-rooted history with music and culture. The festival lasts for two weeks and the display is running from November 13TH – December 2nd. With a packed program, the streets and venues are transformed into an epic display of various artists.  Every fan of Jazz should visit this festival! It brings together jazz artists and fans from around the globe to collectively celebrate a shared passion.

The Monte Carlo Rally

This takes place between January and February annually and is dating almost 80 years back. You can admire the cars at the Place Du Casino in the lead up to the main race day. The Hotel De Paris hosts the Monaco Automobile Club, as such, this means the hotel, bar, casino, and restaurant can tend to get quite busy. With that said, Prince Albert II. attends a public ceremony to award the winners on the Place Du Palais. That gives you a great chance to see Prince with your own eyes and if you are in Monaco during this time it can be a wonderful experience!
